Real Ways to Help Grieving Moms

I loved getting to spend a Saturday doing the Insta takeover for Gather moms! At 37 years old in October 2020 I became a widow with 3 young boys who were 15 months, 4, & 6 at the time. My world instantly got turned upside down. Everyone’s experiences with grief are so different, but I was happy share some of the things that have helped me & my kids as we have gone through this uncharted water of unexpected grief & life taking a hard turn. I will add that we have all been & are still in counseling & that has been a non negotiable for us & will probably always be a part of our lives. My kids counselor & mine are both believers which has been amazing as well.

God continues to move in our lives & grow us in ways we never expected. I pray that our loss & our story would be able to bring hope & comfort to someone who may be grieving any sort of loss. God has walked with me through every single step. I know God is still good He shows me His faithfulness every single day. I know this tragedy will not be in vain but will continue to be used to to point us back to Jesus & to bring glory back to Him.

God has walked with me through every single step.

This is the amazing candle company I discovered when I realized that it helped me to get up and get going in the morning when I would light some of my favorite candles, open up all the windows, make my bed,and try to get outside first thing in the morning…all of those things together are still habits I practice when my grief rolls back around.

Look what I found on Etsy:

If you are looking for a perfect gift for a child who is going through grief of any kind these bears are the perfect gift. My friend Alycen got a bear made for each of my 3 boys out of 3 of their dad’s favorite shirts he wore all the time we call them their “daddy bears” they were such an amazing gift & keep sake for my kids!

I received many gifts in the mail and on my porch when my husband passed away. But this was by far one of my faves. I got a scripture/ prayer blanket from a dear past principal I had worked for. I can’t tell you how many nights I would just physically wrap myself in that blanket full of Gods words of truth and felt so comforted by him spiritually & physically great gift for anyone going through grief & loss!
