Summer Hacks: Tips and Tricks for Moms

One of my favorite things about mamas is our love for sharing pro tips. When we find something that works, we can’t wait to share it with someone else. I love texting friends when I find freshly unboxed treasures at the Target Dollar Spot. Give me all your miracle ideas to fight mosquitoes on summer nights and please share your easy lunch ideas because these kids are eating ALL DAY. Moms needs each other, especially when it comes to surviving summer! Incorporate some of these mom hacks to a make your summer days stress free.

Gather Moms is here to share some of our favorite Summer Hacks with you. Here they are:

Popsicles please

Summer heat will melt those popsicles faster than your kids can lick. Use cupcake liners to catch the drips! Cut a small slit in the bottom and slide the popsicle stick right through.

Sunscreen application made easy

Rubbing sunscreen on your kids’ face is always a test of will. How fast can I rub and how long can they wait? Use an old make-up brush or make-up sponge to apply it quickly and easily.

Iced Coffee to Go

How many trips does it take to get all your stuff to the car before you run errands? A million and one and I still forget something. It would so nice to have an iced coffee waiting in the cup holder. It’s the simple pleasures that give us the boost to keep going! Try this hack for your on-the-go caffeine fix.

In the morning make an extra cup of hot coffee, iced coffee, sweet tea or Dr. Pepper. Put it in your favorite yeti and drop it in the car RIGHT THEN. Why wait till you’re rushed and frazzled? This extra 3 minutes will save your attitude when the traffic backs up on your way out to run errands, drop kids at summer camp or head to the grocery store!

Frozen Aloe to the rescue

I’ve already gotten my first sunburn of the summer. It burns, stings and eventually itches like crazy. Fill an ice cube tray with aloe vera gel and freeze it. It feels amazing to rub this cold healing ointment on a hot sunburn.

More S’mores, Less mess

Every summer we visit the same hotel with our kids for a simple vacation that includes lots of sleeping in and pool time. Every night they offer s’mores by the fire and it’s amazing because all I have to do is show up. No mess for this Mama! How can I recreate this magical experience at home? Try this!

Using a knife, make a slit in the bottom of the marshmallow and insert the chocolate. Push it inside till it’s covered completely by the marshmallow. Use snack size chocolate bars or break a large chocolate bar into smaller pieces.

After the marshmallow is toasted, slap inside 2 graham crackers. Get ready for the best bite ever when the chocolate oozes out of that toasted goodness.

COOKIES FOR SMORES

Want to skip the chocolate mess altogether and simplify your smores? Use Keebler Fudge Striped Cookies instead of graham crackers.

FLIP FLOP SAVER

We love cheap flip flops until they pull apart and we have a kiddo hopping around with one working flip flop! Use the plastic tab from your bread bag to keep the flip flop together.

ONE CUP PER DAY

Having kids at home can mean lots more dishes. Assign each kid their own cup by color and tell them that is their only cup that day.
