Simple Summer Schedule Ideas

Summer is such a wonderful opportunity to spend more time together as a family and even help our kids pursue things they’ve been interested in that they didn’t have time for during the school year. However, it can also be overwhelming to figure out how to keep the kids just busy enough that they have time to get bored but not so bored that they are fighting, leaving messes everywhere and eating you out of house and home.

We want to share with you some super simple summer schedule ideas to help you and your family have a fun, happy and intentional summer. We’ve broken these ideas up by ages of children because toddlers and preschoolers may work better with a more structured schedule while our grade school and teenage kids may want to have more flexibility and ownership with how to spend their time.

TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL SUMMER

With little kids:

  • Go early and stay short
  • Pack plenty of snacks
  • Go with mom friends for extra hands and eyes and FUN

With big kids:

  • Have a family meeting and brainstorm summer with them; they need to have buy-in!
  • Ask them to set summer goals
  • Give them projects for around the house and jobs

With any kids:

Take care of yourself! Summer can be so fun but can knock us out of our rhythms and our healthy habits can go out the window. Make sure you’re spending time with the Lord, exercising, resting and getting some quiet time where you can breath.

We love you, moms, and we’re cheering you on!
